No, there are many runs where I am unable to build what I want. (-((((((((((((((I highly disagree with both of these points. More player choices are always better in games, not less. As the game's difficulty increases I find I lean a little more on one or the other depending on card draw while trying to make a good balance between the two. But the benefits from negotiation can also compensate for getting a crappy combat deck. Sure, if your cards align and you get an amazing combat deck, you won't need negotiation that much. The thing is, negotiation is a secondary deck by design. Negotiation was the thing that brought me into this game, and I absolutely love its addition. The game is not classic, it is a bold take forward in the genre. Just getting screwed with cards that don't synergize at all or are bad isn't fun, RNG, its just "Well, you're screwed now." RNG. I can still cobble something together though, which is the hallmark of good player choices. I highly disagree with both of these points. Make the game more classic and leave the negotiation as a sidekick. I think that the battle should be main thing in this game and the negotiation should be a sidething, along with other cool inventions. I haven't tried just neglecting my negotiation deck, but, for example, I can't imagine fighting the flead queen solo isn't significantly harder than fighting it with all the allies. I feel they provide significant bonuses and that at high prestige at least they are important. I don't feel like negotiations, at least the ones before boss fights, are negligible. Goes pretty much directly against the 'negotiation is a chance for a bonus' idea. so I specifically don't negotiate, or only negotiate when I know I'm still going to wind up fighting. No, the edge negotiation gives me is not gonna carry me singlehandedly. I can be doing really well at negotiation and run into very few battles, then get borked later because my battle deck isn't built around much of anything in the first place, and I *have* to fight an enemy. On the other hand, if you lose a battle you die. Just a small bonus and easement just ahead, and if you lose you can't negotiate any more but you aren't dead. Winning a negotiation may get you an extra ally, get you more rewards, or skip a battle. To my understanding, negotiation is a bonus. Not that the game should be balanced around the highest prestige. Can't speak for OP, but I agree with them and I play at the highest prestige. Get to the higher levels of prestige and we'll talk.
