You may even enjoy your time in high school! Stranger things have happened. But then again, you might get a different view after reading this book. Sure, you may not realize all of those good points until you’re an adult. There are actually so many reasons why high school should be a valuable experience. It’s not some conspiracy for parents to get out of baby-sitting! If you think that high school is invented purely to keep you out of the house during the daytime, you’re wrong. Good question, and one that is often asked by exasperated and stressed-out students across the nation. So, what is the point of high school? I hear you say. Sharon and do I really have to like anyone there? Whatever your age and level of schooling right now, I’ve written this for you. Or it might have already started and you’re wanting some advice on managing the first years of this new adventure. Right now, you might be getting ready to leave middle school and head off to the big leagues. So I hope that the advice and stories in this book will help you get through these years even better. I have been teaching first-year high school students for the better part of 20 years, and I must say, it is an absolute privilege and great fun ( most of the time). It’s compulsory, so why not just go ahead and give the experience your best! Remember high school is not the be all and end all. It may seem like forever all the time, but honestly, before you can blink, you’ll be out in the workforce and living life on a much grander scale. Generally speaking, you will spend four years in high school ( if you are coming from a junior high that includes 9th grade, then it will only be three years), so that is a very small percentage of your entire life! So wherever you are right now with your journey into high school - whether you are about to leave middle school and begin your high school journey or you’re already halfway through, remember this important point: Many millions of people have indeed not only survived, but have thrived through high school over the years!
